My World: January 2007

hello from barnes and noble. : )

Hi. I am studying for my psychology quiz at 8am tomorrow morning, and I am drinking a green tea latte and I ate a peanut butter cookie.

This semester is going pretty well. A lot of work to do, but God has been good. I've been able to have some good times with Him so I am very thankful for that. It is hard to keep up with everything, and going on 5 hours of sleep a night is quite exhausting. But God sustains as well. I just tried to video chat with Mother, but we had some issues with that.

Well, commencement competition is a week from Monday so I'm kind of nervous about that. I've been working pretty hard on my peice though. I'm playing Tarantelle, Op. 43 by Chopin. Of course. Not like I'm in love with Chopin or anything. : )
I'm doing some really cool pieces for my exams too. One of which is a Phillip Glass piece, "Opening".
Playing that piece has been an amazing experience for me musically and spiritually. I have never reached the musical heights before that I have reached playing it. I can't describe it any further than that. Its just beautiful.

I love my Art Appreciation class, I get to sit in on some Art classes. The funny thing is, my teacher gave me like, 10 different options of classes to go to, and I'm required to go to 2. Well, I looked over the class schedule, and only one of them will work with my class schedule. Haha, so I have to talk to her.
I also love Intro to Music Lit. We get to listen to/analyze a lot of music, and it is pretty much sweet action. I love it. We started out listening to pretty monotonous chants, and now we're getting into Renaissance and some of those "chants" are just gorgeous.

I read a horribly sad book, entitled "The Painted Veil".
I cried.

I've been trying to practice the piano for 4 hours a day now, and for the most part I've been pretty consistent. Except today, I was extremely tired. I completely konked out in Orientation. I sit in the back so it is ok. But I was just exhausted. So I took a nap after that. And then felt even more tired. Then I went to dinner with Sarah and Laura and that was nice. We had a good time. Saturday night I'm going to eat with Tak and Sarah and whoever else.
I love all the friends I've met at school. They are amazing.

Well, I had better go, I've got a lot more studying to do. : )

I hope everyone has a great few months until you next hear from me. Stay close to the Lord.

love is not against the law.

politics or love
can make you blind or make you see
make you a slave or make you free
but only one does it all

and it’s giving up your life
for the ones you hate the most
it’s giving them your gown
when they’ve taken your clothes

it’s learning to admit
when you’ve had a hand in setting them up
in knocking them down

love is not against the law
love is not against the law

are we defending life
when we just pick and choose
lives acceptable to lose
and which ones to defend

‘cause you cannot choose your friends
but you choose your enemies
and what if they were one
one and the same

could you find a way
to love them both the same
to give them your name

because love is not against the law
love is not against the law
