Well, you can all be so happy that I didn't post last night as planned, (see comments in previous post) because I happened to go to the barn today and now you can hear all about that!! Nothing much happened though, so I won't dwell on it too much. I was supposed to work Charles and Flicka, but I didn't have enough time to do Charles so I just did Flicka. She was kind of grumpy. It was an ok ride. I was going to head out around 3, but then Steph and Kirsten got up to ride so I decided to watch. Kirsten's been riding Roo and she has about.. 0 confidence. He spooked at something and she started crying so I walked her back down to the barn, and while we were walking he came flying off his feet. So that did NOT help at all. So I hugged her and she was crying and we talked for a little bit and I reminded her off all my issues riding. I think there is a phase that most devoted riders go through, where they just lose it and can't seem to latch on to anything. She'll be ok though. I think Roo will be able to help her with that though. He's a very young horse and kind of immature at times, but he'll be good for her. If she thinks more about him and less about herself, she'll be able to guide him through with his issues and will help her to focus on something else than her fears. Take it from me, that will get you nowhere fast.
John, Ruth and Heather are coming home next week! I guess they are leaving on monday night so they won't get here until Tuesday morning sometime. I'm pretty excited though. I miss them lots. It will be nice to have them home. It means I need to get practiced back up with tennis, so I can beat them all, and hackey sack, and it means nightime raids on dairy queen and the local mini golf joint. yessssssss.
Rehearsal was pretty much awesome on Tuesday. It was halarious, everyone is doing really well with their parts. Quinn was stumbling over his lines a little. He said "intimate" and it was supposed to be "immeadiete" and it was such a bad place for it. Ben is completely hysterical as Spode. Man. He's got the accent great. For somebody who said "I can't do a british accent".
Madeline- what can I say? She loves what she does! But really, I am completely enjoying my part. love it. The two highlights of the afternoon were Amber/Lady Harriett's line; "TCAH!" and then Quinn/Bertie's; "WOMEN!" it was perfect. everyone did great.
Well, this thursday I am going to the salon. I heard you're supposed to get your hair trimmed every 6 weeks. But I'm not going for that. I actually won't tell you guys what I'm getting done to it. I will just do it, and then take pictures. But, I did something different to my hair the other week, and everyone loved it. I got a good response...so if you STILL don't know what I am doing to it...oh well! You'll find out. : )
The Schooling show is a week from today. It should be fun. I'm the assistant photographer. : ) I'm doing a few classes, just an in-hand one with Flicka in the morning, then a couple more classes. It should be ok as long as I get up for long enough time before hand so we can get her worked a little and relaxed. Then the rest of the day will be spent leading the younger kids in the leadline classes, and shooting some pictures. : ) Mom's class is last. GO MOM!
Then we will go out to dinner with everyone. I think pizza land has become a tradition. Good stuff. On wednesday, I have piano lessons from 8:30 (it got moved up!) to 10, then I'm coming home and picking up mom for her riding lesson, then I'm working Charles since Emily is going to ride him later that day, and Flicka, and then I'm probablly going to go to the barn on Friday to help set up for the show and to get a last ride in. I really like riding saddleseat. It's a lot more forward than hunt, and it really makes you feel like you're just floating.
The difference between saddleseat and huntseat? I will enlighten you.
Huntseat:

Saddleseat:

Even though a English Pleasure (saddleseat) horse may hold their head and pick up their feet a good deal higher than a hunter, you still want collection. They can't be going around with their nose in the air. You still want a good curve in the neck and that roundness. It feels awesome to ride a horse like that. It really does. And riding a hunt horse that really can go, you get the same feeling, but for me, its just much better on a saddle horse. It really is. On a perfect, warm summer day, no helmet and the wind whipping through your hair, (sorry guys-well, some of you might be able to share that joy) and your horses mane blowing in your face and that wonderful feeling that you could just keep on going and never stop. Yup. Thats what its like.
I'm off to bed.
